Chucks A. Mordi

Our Founder and CEO (Chucks A. Mordi), a Nigeria/British international Film Maker, Trainer, Mentor and Life Coach, a graduate of Fine Applied and Performing Arts from the Delta State University Abraka (1992), he started out his film making career in Nigeria in 1994 and made his limelight debut projects (RITUALS – As a Set Designer 1997 and Mama Sunday – As a Screen Writer, Trainer, Producer and Assistance Director).

He has since then evolved his creative skills to encompass all aspects of film making by continuous self-training and development while in Nigeria and continued to do so at his current country of residence (the United Kingdom).

Chucks Mordi a bona fide member of the Directors’ Guild of Nigeria, the Association of Movie Producers Nigeria rose to become the Secretary General of the Directors Guild of Nigeria in 1999 before traveling out to the United Kingdom in 2000.

Chucks Mordi, singularly  exported the Nollywood Phenomenon to the West with his relocation to London in 2000, where he was able to get the support of the BBC, the Directors Guild of Great Britain and the Cinematographers Guild of Great Britain to lend their professional support to the numerous campaigns he ran in the UK to create awareness for the Nollywood Brand, some of his campaigns saw to the dismantling of the illegal pirating of Nollywood films in the UK, following the Anti-Piracy convention he organised in 2007 which saw representatives of the Lagos State Commission for Arts and Culture, Nigeria Video Film and Censors Board (Obiora Chukwumba), the Association of Movie Producers (Paul Obazele and Madu C. Chikwendu) and a host of others grace the event that set the stage for Nollywood’s indelible foot print on the global stage of film making today.

Chucks Mordi’s Nollywood export campaign also got the attention of then Virgin Atlantic Airline who lent their support to the campaigns by providing over 50 return tickets to London for invited film makers to participate in his events in London.

The British immigrating service saw the positivity of the Nollywood inclusion on the stage of global film maker and thus supported our campaigns by easing visa processes for all invited artists and guests over two major international Nollywood event held in London as initiated by Chucks Mordi and his team.

Back in 2012, Maria Cristina Aiezza, a PhD student of film from the University of Naples Federico II – Department Teomesus (mariacristina.aiezza@unina.it}, chose one of the Nollywood top ranking films of that year ‘BLEEDING ROSE’ which actually won the 2007 Lagos International Film Festival Best Film of the year; as her film of study in delivering her thesis to attain her PhD in film studies using African Film as a case study, so yes, we can bring Delta State some more glorious moments globally.

Chucks Mordi has since moved on to training future film makers, which he started doing back in 2012 in London, and since traversed Nigeria, Ghana, London and France;  teaching and training film makers via his mobile film academy Studio67 Academy UK; he is one Nollywood film maker who has gained access into a European school to teach film making to French students at the LYCEE NOTRE DAME CHARTRE, FRANCE; he ran his film work shop for three consecutive years before being unceremoniously cut of by the global Covid-19 Pandemic.

A Few Nollywood Greats have seen their career pursuit enhanced both nationally an internationally as a result of Chucks Mordi’s efforts in supporting the building and exporting of our glorious Nollywood brand; among these are JIM IYKE & ROBERT PETERS (discovered by Chucks Mordi on his Film “MAMA SUNDAY” – 1998 – JOS – NIGERIA), these two built on the incredible professional foundation provided them by Chucks Mordi to grow to recognizable intentional film makers today. FRANCIS DURU (Played the Lead in Mama Sunday 1998, which saw his popularity soar so high that it peaked him on top of Nollywood greats for a very long time., AYO MAKUN, gained Professional counselling from Chucks in 1999 and was encouraged to look within and dip into that which was natural to him, and today AY COMEDY has become a global brand.

Currently, our most recent film project (MY EXECUTIONER) executed by budding film makers from our academy program ran in Abuja is showing on Amazon and Google play worldwide.
